We managed to get the remains of the roller furler up on to the deck and the jib sail put away. The mast had to have the top cut off to clean up the wreckage. A very difficult job. I sawed off the top just above the jumper struts (or what is left of them) and reattached the tri-color light to the now flat top of the mast. Drilled and installed an eye bolt and rigged running back stays out of the jib halyards and now have a permanently double reefed main sail.

Nice jury-rig. Where are you heading?
ReplyDeleteHi Rich and Anna,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you guys are okay. The last thing I would be able to do is climb up that thing after part broke off. You're made of pretty brave stuff Rich!
