I had NOT planned to stop in Titusville again this year. The plan was to sail around Cape Canaveral and on to the St. Lucie inlet about 100 miles further south of here but when we motored down the St Mary’s river we were plowing the goose straight into 4 to 6 foot waves; up one wave and Smash… down into the next what a ride. Edie almost became airborne on some of the drops.
It
was a view of things to come. The ride after that was not too great as we went
south for the wind was too far to our aft and the wave pattern tossed us around.
This still wasn’t too bad though, for the wind was supposed to come around on
the beam and then sailing would have been good. It instead, just as night fell,
it came all the way around to the nose. Bash, bash, bash, as we motored into it
and the boat became a washing machine down below, again. So, in the middle of the
night we turned into the Ponce De Leon inlet. We were lucky that we had a full
moon and a chart plotter for two of the navigation lights were out! So, now, it’s back to the ICW for the
next few days as we head further south. So much for sailing south on the outside this
season.
On a different note thought I’d show you the difference
between old Florida housing and new Florida housing. The small, old ones are
lived in and well taken care of whereas the new 'minny mansions' are for sale! Go smaller and save money.
