Panels 6
The final results are impressive (it looks ugly but impressive)! Today, at noon, the system was producing 25+ amps and the Batteries were being charged without the ‘beast’ rumbling the background. It’s like magic! The power just keeps pouring in hour after hour. By 8 AM it started with a trickle of power and by 9 AM we were making more than we were using. Hope you enjoyed this series of posts...or was it boring? Let me know.

I enjoyed very cool, keep it coming I am stuck in Michigan :(
ReplyDeleteAfter confirming your "surplus" power situation,
ReplyDeleteyou could sell it to your mooring mates. Then you would have more funds to mount more panels, why you could make the Snow Goose look like some nut from Michigan!
Well it does look ok especially to a techno/geek like me. When sailing do you leave the lifeline mounted panels up ?
ReplyDeleteGood job Rich and Anna!
ReplyDeleteDanny, I don't know yet, if the panels will be up or down when we are sailing we'll have to give it a try and see how they work.
ReplyDeleteI guess it will depend how far you heel (?)over!
ReplyDeleteI don't know about that "tug" you saw, apparently it it only draws 2' 10" of water, maybe they are self righting?
So what, exactly, prevents these things from either giving your boat unwanted aerodynamic properties or being torn off in high winds? I'm assuming you've insured these babies...they look amazing, though. Congrats, Captain Crunchy Granola! :)
ReplyDeletewell, do you have enough data to calculate your estimated payback on investment? Do not include some value for the easier auto recharge!
ReplyDeleteDanny, I figure that the payback should yake about 18 months so, in late 2011 we will be in the black.
ReplyDeleteBrenda, I attached them preaty good anything short of a hurricane shouldn't bother them.
